Beautiful old pine trees provide shelter for those who prefer it, but leave enough light for those who seek the sun. It’s a place far away from the rush of every day’s life.

Location
Carcans Plage

Plage Small and authentic beach town

Carcans Plage is a small seaside village with a unique charm, located at the foot of the dunes of the Gironde Coast, only 1 hour from Bordeaux. The small family seaside resort, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, benefits from an exceptional location between lake and ocean.

As a result, it is particularly popular with surfers and nature lovers...

Catherine S.

Quiet and clean campsite despite its size, with a very practical little store, a laundromat, etc. 5 minutes from the sea and in the shade of the pine trees. The setting is very pleasant, the staff too! We had an excellent family stay. Our young people loved it! We really liked the tents for rent. An improvement could be made in terms of the layout of the paths to the toilets and the missing toilet paper... Thank you!

Exactly what we were looking for for a few days on the Vélodyssée! Direct access from the bike path and a 10-minute walk to the beach, perfect for surfing or swimming. There are a few bars and restaurants in the village, as well as several surf schools.
A simple campsite with the Accueil Velo label, with sheltered tables and electrical outlets for sheltered lodging while roaming! Yes, that's what we're looking for!
A very well-stocked mini-market (and another in the village a 5-minute walk away), bread and pastries, a laundromat, bike rental, and numerous well-appointed toilet blocks with plenty of electrical outlets. A freezer is available for ice packs.
The campsite is very large, divided into two: tents on one side and campervans on the other. In September, the clientele is mainly German surf camps. We were on a quiet pitch at the back of the campsite, away from others, with no cars in sight, under the pine trees. Magical!

We stayed for 8 days in a duo tent, which we highly recommend! The campsite is located in a magnificent pine forest, at the intersection of several beautiful cycle paths that will take you to Lacanau, Maubuisson, Bombannes, etc. The duo tent is equipped with a bed with a mattress, two cushions and a blanket, two bedside tables with lamps, an outdoor table and two chairs, and a wardrobe. The pitch was shaded and close to the restrooms.
Pros: large pitches, shade, magnificent pine forest, a 5-minute walk from the ocean, bike rental service on the campsite, fresh bread and pastries in the morning.
Cons: few services in the village, two small convenience stores that are available but limited for a one-week stay and expensive. After August 31st, the regional bus service no longer runs to Carcans Plage on Sundays.

Having come as a family for the second time to the Ocean campsite, we are once again delighted with the welcome, the pitches, and the location of the campsite: close to the ocean, the start of cycle paths, and under the pine trees. The small supermarket allows you to get what you need (with bread and pastries without reservation, every morning), and bike rental is easy. The pitches are large, and since we had already been there, we requested a sector of the campsite when booking, and we were well placed. We will be happy to come back.

A magical Velodyssee, after the 20km stretch between Soulac and Hourtin, the arrival via the track in the dunes at Carcans Beach and this ocean campsite is a moment of pure bliss. The Carcans Beach resort seems to have escaped the 1960s with its surfers and its peaceful, uncomplicated atmosphere.
The campsite's welcome is excellent, with a small supermarket, fairly large pitches in the pine forest, and a few tables with outlets for charging cell phones, all adding to the idyllic setting.
